Began learning jade carving in Taipei in 1988. 2000: Awarded an honorable mention in the Craft category at the 14th Nanying Art Exhibition; participated in a jade and stone joint exhibition at the Sun Yat-sen Memorial Hall in August. 2001: Invited to perform live carving at the Hualien International Arts Festival, in the local creation section. 2002: Selected for the "Dream of Crafts" award at the 10th Taiwan Craft Design Competition. 2003: Invited by the National Taiwan Craft Research and Development Institute to exhibit at the Presidential Office for the "Taitung Local Special Exhibition." 2005: Invited by the National Taiwan Museum to exhibit indigenous carvings at the National Museum of the Czech Republic as part of the "1000 Faces of Formosa" exchange exhibition. 2013: Exhibited at the Sun Yat-sen Memorial Hall in the "Gathering of Jade Carving Masters from Across the Taiwan Strait," selected to display in the Taiwanese Jade Master section. 2016: Invited by the National Taiwan Craft Research and Development Center to exhibit at the Presidential Office Gallery in the "Gathering Around the Hearth – Sustainable Craftsmanship Exhibition." 2018: Held a solo exhibition, "Xie Zhong-ren's 30 Years of Jade Carving – The Continuation of Culture," at the Sun Yat-sen Memorial Hall.
