Tatting is a technique where you create “knots” as you weave. In Japanese, the word “tsumu” (to tie) is associated with the idea of “tying” people and feelings together—a symbol of good fortune— which is why some choose tatting accessories as gifts. This piece was inspired by the colors of Vincent van Gogh’s *Café Terrace at Night*. Lights glow in a stylish European café, and the joyful evening hours flow by slowly... I dyed the thread while picturing such a scene.
