A bracelet connecting Dogon violet beads, Mizoram carnelian, ancient agate, old Himachal silver, blue & purple beads, and old Indian silver charms. These translucent, violet, beautifully shaped pentagonal beads are passed down through the Dogon people of Africa. They are trade beads made in the Netherlands between the 17th and 19th centuries. The Dogon are said to have deep knowledge of astronomy. Blue beads resembling the sky, and clear (translucent) beads like spiders are often seen, but this violet color is rare and scarce. They are in good condition with no cracks. (Dogon bead size: 0.9cm length x 1.1cm width) The old Himachal silver, adorned with floral patterns, comes from the northwesternmost region of India, Himachal Pradesh. This is old silver, over 100 years old. It is thought to have been combined with turquoise and coral. It is hollow inside, so it is not very heavy. (Old Himachal silver size: 1.6cm width x 1.3cm height x 0.8cm thickness) The orange beads are Mizoram carnelian. These are heirloom pieces from Mizoram state in eastern India, dating around the 18th century. Blood spots can be seen. While there are scratches, the beads have a deep, captivating character that includes them. (Mizoram carnelian size: 0.7cm width x 0.7cm diameter) The lustrous, milky white beads are ancient agate from Afghanistan, over 1200 years old.
