<A unique beauty that brings you happiness, one of a kind in the world>
In the past, when people living in Watari, Miyagi Prefecture, gave gifts, they would place them in a "bag" made from remnants of old kimonos. For example, it might have been a 1.8-liter bottle of rice given as a celebration or a return gift. It had no set name and was called "fukuro" (bag), which was slurred to "fuguro."
"FUGURO" is a recreation and remake of this old, traditional custom. The materials are kimono fabrics with auspicious patterns, carefully selected from thousands of kimonos sleeping in drawers. Each piece is meticulously handcrafted, with well-wishes for the happiness of the person holding it sewn into its very fabric.
We deliver a unique beauty that brings you happiness, embodying the elegant custom of wrapping and giving cherished items, and sewing gratitude into our products.
Two colors of thread are used to match the colors of the outer and lining fabrics. Please enjoy the beautiful stitching that is pleasing to the eye.
<Symbols of Happiness: Auspicious Patterns>
Auspicious patterns are considered good omens and "symbols of happiness." Understanding the meanings of Japanese patterns connects us to the profound depth of Japanese culture passed down through generations.
<Seigaiha Pattern> Symbolizes "mastery of skills" and "eternal peace." As waves continue endlessly, it embodies the wish for eternity.
<Chrysanthemum Pattern> Symbolizes "longevity," "wish for rejuvenation," and "wish for good health." Chrysanthemums were believed to have anti-aging properties and were used medicinally. They are considered the king of a hundred flowers and a symbol of longevity.
<Japanese Gifts>
As the materials are kimono fabrics, a symbol of Japanese culture, these items are popular as souvenirs to take overseas or as gifts for international visitors. They are compact and convenient to carry. We include a product description card with both Japanese and English text.
<Versatile Uses>
Use it as a bag-in-bag, a pouch for keys or supplements, or to hold snacks for your break time at the office. It can also be displayed as interior decor in your living room. It's fun to think of various ways to use it; its application depends on the user's creativity. They can be used on either side (reversible).
