This is an SDGs jewelry piece featuring Kintsugi, upcycled from ceramics by Fukukikama, a kiln in Uji City, Kyoto Prefecture, known for Kyo-yaki and Kiyomizu-yaki. We reuse broken or chipped pottery that would otherwise be discarded, and re-craft it into accessories with Kintsugi. Our concept is to bring nature and Japan's enduring traditions closer to people, transforming them into modern accessories that connect to the future and create new possibilities. This piece features a floral patterned ceramic fragment adorned with freshwater pearls. Kintsugi is applied to the sides of the ceramic fragment, allowing the gold to shine from the side and adding an elegant touch. The accompanying chain is made of allergy-friendly surgical stainless steel with 18K coating, making it resistant to tarnishing and gentle on the skin. The chain length is 40cm plus a 5cm adjuster. This work uses a modern, simplified Kintsugi technique. Instead of traditional lacquer derived from the sap of the lacquer tree, it uses new lacquer that is less likely to cause irritation, along with gold powder (brass powder).
