Vegetable-tanned leather, as the name suggests, is tanned using **plant-based tannins**. It's an umbrella term for leather preserved using the tannic acids found in plants. This is the **oldest and most primitive method of leather tanning**. The characteristic of this type of leather is its initial **light skin tone**, which gradually deepens to caramel or even darker hues over time due to sun exposure, use, air contact, and water. This aging process makes your leather item more beautiful and lustrous with every use. Furthermore, the leather we select undergoes **no surface treatment**. Just like human skin, cattle develop **natural grain patterns and marks** during their growth. Surface treatment is akin to applying makeup, hiding all imperfections. Therefore, leather with a **poor surface condition typically requires surface treatment**. Moreover, the skin naturally secretes oils, so **frequently using your leather item is the best form of care**. If the leather gets wet, simply **air dry it in the shade**. If it becomes dry due to frequent water exposure, you can apply a thin layer of leather conditioner. **Do not use lotions or petroleum jelly**, as these can clog the leather's pores and damage the item. For regular storage, keep your leather goods in a cool, well-ventilated area to avoid excessive humidity and mold.
