Cowhide Leather Profile: Waxy vegetable-tanned cowhide is protected and nourished with a layer of white wax on its surface. With use, the wax is gradually absorbed, deepening the color and enhancing the luster, creating a leather that is full of character. You can choose to have it made with the wax-coated effect before or after color treatment (as shown in Photos A and B). Vegetable tanning is the oldest tanning method, using tanning agents extracted from plants, such as tannins. This process involves repeatedly soaking the hide in tanning solutions of varying concentrations, taking one to two months to complete. Vegetable-tanned leather is free from harmful chemicals like heavy metals, making it safe for direct skin contact. It also retains the leather's natural texture. Over time, with exposure to sunlight and moisture, the leather will gradually develop a richer sheen, deepen in color, and show unique signs of wear, a process some refer to as 'leather cultivation'! Leather de Home watch straps are meticulously crafted using traditional saddle stitching. Both the front and back are made with Italian vegetable-tanned leather, offering superior durability compared to machine-stitched alternatives. The edges are sanded from coarse to fine grit and then polished to a smooth, natural finish. When ordering, please specify your preferred leather color effect (waxed or unwaxed), strap length, buckle/connector color, thread color, and choice of embossed text (up to 10 English letters) or Indian patterns (2 patterns – one on the top strap, one on the bottom strap).
