MIZUHIKI work ornate hairpin, sunflower, summer, yellow

This ornate hairpin is made of mizuhiki work, a traditional Japanese craft. A large sunflower, a dazzlingly bright yellow summer flower, is in bloom. Three colors of yellow mizuhiki are used for the petals of the sunflower to avoid monotony. The center of the flower is tied with a brown mizuhiki plum knot. The ume (plum) knot is a very auspicious knot that is associated with longevity and good luck. Rhinestones are placed inside the plum knot, making it sparkle and shine. The large sunflowers are sprinkled with green sequins, crystal glass, and mizuhiki dama-knots, and sway in the wind, making them very pretty. It may look heavy, but it is surprisingly light because mizuhiki itself is light and the beads used are all small. It is almost the weight of the metal of the ornate hairpin itself. It is comfortable to wear in spite of its large size, and there is little burden on the neck and shoulders!
