The long, soft fibers give it the name "Angora velour," drawing a parallel to Angora rabbits. Angora velour is a leather material not commonly seen in the general market. A drawback of this material, especially when new, is that its fibers can shed onto clothing. Due to strict quality standards and concerns about complaints, it's rarely used in general apparel. The cowhide split velour on the lower section is made by raising the inner surface of tanned leather with sandpaper or similar tools. It's a leather material with short, soft fibers, offering a unique luster and warmth. When the fuzz is finished finely, it's called suede split, and when finished coarsely, it's called velour split. Like suede, there may occasionally be very minor scratches, which are inherent characteristics of the leather. The base measures a generous 13.5cm x 20cm, providing ample depth, and it comes with a removable stiffener. The handles are made from approximately 3.5mm thick cowhide, vegetable-tannedヌメ革. This Banshu leather, with a history dating back to the Azuchi-Momoyama period, develops a rich character with use.
