It's calfskin processed with a special technique to imprint a tree-like texture. This embossing ensures the grain pattern on the leather will never wear away. While it might slightly fade or lighten with years of use, it will never completely disappear, and it's incredibly durable! Based on observation, this is one of the most durable and resilient leathers from LOEWE, perfect for those with an active lifestyle. This type of leather has been discontinued, and modern new releases no longer feature such high quality and durability. It's truly exceptional! Feel free to visit a LOEWE boutique and feel the leather for yourself; the calfskin on modern bags is simply not the same. Naturally, modern bags come with a significantly higher price tag than pre-owned ones, making LOEWE pre-owned bags an incredible value proposition in my opinion! This series is likely one of the most resilient within LOEWE's pre-owned collection. The calfskin with its tree bark texture is exceptionally durable. The piece I have now is a smaller size from this series, which is quite rare. It can be carried by hand or worn as a shoulder bag/underarm bag, offering versatile styling. It complements most everyday looks. Personally, I find it looks best with a crisp, clean pair of jeans, and its capacity is surprisingly good! Despite being a small bag, it's far from impractical. It can comfortably fit your phone, a long/medium/short wallet, keys, a cardholder, and hand sanitizer – all your daily essentials. A unique feature is that the strap is slightly longer than on typical underarm bags, making it comfortable even when worn over a coat or trench coat in autumn or winter. It doesn't get caught under the arm like shorter-strapped underarm bags, which is very convenient. The key highlight is that this calfskin is truly resilient and highly resistant to wear. After all these years, the color and textured pattern look almost new! What's also special is its origin: Italy! LOEWE bags are typically made in Spain, but this series is a rare Italian-made find. . . . ⚐⚑˒˒ The bag is in excellent condition. While not pristine, it's absolutely beautiful! The color is particularly striking – a rare reddish-brown, reminiscent of autumn leaves! It looks stunning whether used in fall or spring, eye-catching without being overwhelming! Made from calfskin, and again, the most resilient leather from LOEWE! The front and back of the bag show no obvious flaws, no scratches, no indentations, no discoloration, or stains. Upon very close inspection, there are very minor signs of use. However, the base, edges, and corners show no peeling, not even at the very tips of the edges, and the edge paint is fully intact. Signs of wear are not noticeable because the inherent textured pattern naturally conceals them. The exterior clasp features a charming small logo. There's a slight, unnoticeable oxidation on the clasp that doesn't affect its functionality. The interior is lined with dark brown suede, a premium, soft material that is clean overall, with no signs of aging or peeling, nor any tears or dye transfer. It also has minor signs of use. The interior brand stamp is silver. Inside, there's a small zippered pocket and an open slip pocket. The zipper operates smoothly and normally. The stitching inside and out is very secure. The origin is Italy (very rare for LOEWE)! The shoulder strap shows normal signs of use, specifically some creasing. The entire bag has no discoloration, dye transfer, or color bleeding issues. Being a structured calfskin, the bag maintains its shape even when fully packed. Overall, the condition is excellent, with minimal signs of wear. The skill of artisans at major brands was many times more meticulous than any machine process, with every step exquisitely refined! Today, most processes are machine-made and then assembled by hand. Machine-made components lack the same level of detail. A direct comparison can be made by looking at the monogram patterns on modern reissues versus vintage originals; the intricacy of the monogram alone reveals a significant difference. If you love monograms, seek out pre-owned pieces! Truly! In terms of style, older designs were generally simpler, timeless, and enduring. Many current new designs are actually reissues of older styles. However, new releases are priced higher, and their designs are typically based on older styles with added or altered elements, resulting in more complex designs compared to their predecessors. As you grow older, you'll likely understand that simplicity endures! The quality of materials in older pieces is also superior to new ones. Anyone knowledgeable about leather can see that the materials used in new bags are generally of a lower grade than those in older ones. This is mainly because the cost and availability of high-quality raw materials are high today, and brands in the past had very high standards for their finished products. The difference between new and old hardware is also easily noticeable. Hardware on many new bags oxidizes and discolors after just a year or two of use, but this is rarely the case with older bags. Besides the use of superior materials and meticulous craftsmanship, hardware from earlier eras was often plated with real gold! This is why vintage bags produced as far back as the 1960s and 70s still have shiny hardware today! Among the brands I'm familiar with, none of the new bags currently available use gold-plated hardware.
