They are meticulously designed symbols that can even be transformed into shapes. The challenge in creating textiles with them is: how can I turn these symbols, which people see everywhere, into an appealing form?" – Koji Wakishita "Jusū" was originally designed by Koji Wakishita for an underwear brand. Although he was very fond of it, the pattern didn't quite match the product and fabric at the time, and it didn't gain much attention. It wasn't until the early days of SOU・SOU, when Go Hayashida visited Wakishita's home, that he saw the pattern and exclaimed, "Even without a logo, just by looking at the pattern, you know which brand it is!" That was how "SOU・SOU Jusū" became known to us today. Wakishita infused each number with an irregular outline through his natural, hand-drawn lines, creating unique digits. Today, "SOU・SOU Jusū" has become the pattern for the brand's wrapping paper and shopping bags, symbolizing SOU・SOU. Warau (Smile) | Original Year: 2011 "A smile is different from laughter; a gentle smile holds true meaning. If you encounter a radiant smile, you must feel enveloped in warmth." – Koji Wakishita The beloved "Warau" (Smile) was initially just a doodle Wakishita drew on a piece of mosaic tile! He kept this tile hanging on his studio wall. Although Hayashida visited many times, he didn't react to this decoration. One day, Hayashida suddenly pointed to the "Warau" on the wall and said, "Mr. Wakishita, let's use this pattern for dyeing and printing!" Hayashida commented that "Warau" was like a girl he didn't notice in third grade but suddenly fell for in sixth grade.
