This is a new release in our Chinese hairpin brooch series, a collection we haven't updated in some time.
Our Chinese hairpin brooch series has historically featured hair ornaments inspired by the beauties of the past (often with tragic fates).
This new release features one of China's three great femme fatales. A surprising flower of evil, perhaps?
While some may shy away from the concept of an "evil woman," we're presenting this in a three-part series.
This is the first installment.
We'll introduce them in chronological order of their eras.
The other brooches partially visible above are for the second and third installments.
The flower of evil must be beautiful to begin with!
Furthermore, this piece is of an unprecedented, extra-large size.
Please take a look at the intricate detailing!
When I previously submitted pieces elsewhere and won an award in a certain contest, I received advice to use higher-quality materials. This new Chinese hairpin brooch series is, in part, a response to that feedback.
As a testament to quality, I've gathered a variety of components with exquisite designs down to the smallest detail.
It is designed with two brooches connected by a chain.
The chain is detachable, allowing you to wear them together or separately.
Daji was a consort of Emperor Xin of the late Shang Dynasty, around the 11th century BCE.
She was deeply favored by Emperor Xin, indulging in lavish feasts and excesses, which reportedly led the king to impose heavy taxes on his people to fund them.
It is said that she and the king devised the cruel "Paolao" punishment, where they would laugh gleefully at the suffering of those being executed.
There is also a legend that Daji was a transformation of a nine-tailed fox, a mythical creature.
The nine-tailed fox, in the form of Daji, is said to have later traveled to Japan, becoming the court lady Tamamo-no-Mae. She troubled Emperor Toba until she was exposed by the onmyoji Abe no Yasunari. Fleeing the capital to the east, she was believed to have been vanquished by Miura no Suke Yoshiaki, Chiba no Suke Tsunetane, and Kazusa no Suke Hirotsune. However, she transformed into a giant, poisonous rock (the Sessho-seki) that kills any creature that approaches it. The Sessho-seki, still existing in Nasu Town, Tochigi Prefecture, is said to be a fragment of this giant rock, later shattered by the monk Genno.
With a brooch that has no fixed way of wearing and a design that can be altered, we've expressed the ever-changing nature of the nine-tailed fox.
The nine-tailed fox itself is sometimes considered a divine beast; in Nansō Satomi Hakkenden, the Masakitsune fox is depicted as ascending to heaven after saving a thousand lives through its virtue.
While we can't know if Daji was truly like this, the underlying concept is that of a beautiful woman who ensnares with false tears.
A woman you want to be deceived by, even knowing you are being fooled.
A woman who, to men, seems captivating.
It's intimidating! You shouldn't listen to her.
(Just because it splits into two for the "evil woman" theme doesn't mean it's Daki; Gyutaro is not included ^^. And it's Daji, not Daki...)
The 8th image is a comparison with Yang Guifei (on the right), which was the largest piece in our Chinese hairpin brooch series until now.
Can you grasp the scale?
The hot pink color I received, which was a different shade from the red rose used for Yang Guifei, was the unexpected start for the Daji piece. At Heart Bouquet, we don't force parts into a piece; we let the piece guide our choice of parts. ^^
The 9th image shows all three pieces from this femme fatale series.
The other two pieces are featured on separate pages.

All pieces in the femme fatale series are one-of-a-kind.
This is due to the unavoidable increase in sales prices in this current climate, the uncertain demand for pieces themed around "evil women," and the concentration of limited materials into a single item.
If you are drawn to this piece, we encourage you to act quickly...
We include silicone brooch stoppers for your peace of mind.

The dangling parts are delicately crafted, so please handle with care.
The components are attached to the base with fishing line.
They may feel slightly loose, but they are securely fastened to prevent detachment, so you can use them with confidence.
Beads are arranged to minimize the visibility of the base setting; however, due to the method of securing the prongs, the base may be visible around those specific areas.
Due to its weight, please avoid using this on fabrics where needle holes might be noticeable.
Before purchasing, please ensure you have thoroughly checked the "Size" and "Materials" of the piece.
Colors may appear differently on screen than in person. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact us.
