He graduated with a Master of Fine Arts from National Taiwan University and Lindenwood University in the United States. He has served as the chairman of the Chinese Calligraphy Society and the vice president of the Chinese Painting and Calligraphy Seal Engraving Academy. He was also an artist-in-residence at the University of Science and Technology of Taiwan and Taipei Tech. In 1996, he received a government grant to study in France. He has held solo exhibitions of his calligraphy and paintings in Taiwan, China, the United States, France, and Japan. Chu Chen-Nan's large-scale works are displayed in public spaces, including the lobby of the Taipei City Hall, Taipei Main Station, Taiwan Taoyuan International Airport, Kaohsiung Museum of Fine Arts, the College of Music at Taipei National University of the Arts, and the naming inscriptions for stations on Taiwan's eastern railway. He also collaborated with lyricist Vincent Fang on a monumental calligraphy installation titled "On the Road" at Terminal 1 of Taiwan Taoyuan International Airport.
