On the petals, it is written: "ハヤクコウサンスルモノハコロサナイ" (Those who surrender quickly will not be killed). After the Seediq people endured the Japanese army's poison gas suppression, the tribe members, suffering from inhaling the toxic gas, chose to end their lives. However, suicide was contrary to the warrior spirit of the indigenous people.
