Quell the Souls [Rainbow Bridge] Long Scarf | Silk Scarf The Theme of Quell the Souls- Rainbow bridge : Wushe Incident-Silkscarf ◤ Story Behind the Design ◢ "Quell the Souls" is a series of creations by ShaoWei exploring Taiwanese history, bringing to light memories often omitted from textbooks. The aim is to ensure fragmented history is remembered, and that somber events are transformed into gentle narratives, fostering wider understanding and appreciation. "Rainbow Bridge" depicts the 1930 Wushe Incident. The spirit guide—Sisin, a bird of ancestral spirits who reveres the rainbow—carries crimson cherry blossom petals to place upon the heads of the fallen. The petals bear the inscription: "ハヤクコウサンスルモノハコロサナイ" (Those who surrender quickly will not be killed). After the brutal suppression by Japanese forces using poison gas, the suffering Seediq people chose to end their lives, as suicide conflicted with the spirit of a warrior.
