Therefore, __regularly purifying your crystals is very important__. It is recommended to establish a habit of purifying your crystals regularly, for example, on the 1st of each month or during a full moon (the 15th day of the lunar calendar). There are many ways to purify crystals, and detailed explanations can be found in books and online. Perhaps the most commonly mentioned purification method is soaking in saltwater. However, some crystals and metals are quite delicate and can be damaged by salt or water, so Joyce personally does not recommend soaking in saltwater. If you have small pieces of clear or amethyst quartz, or geode clusters, you can place the pendulum directly on or within them when not in use. Of course, the cleansing crystals, geodes, and clusters used for purification also need to be purified regularly. For instance, they can be placed in sunlight for solar purification or under moonlight for lunar purification. Joyce finds __smudging to be the most effective method__! You can light palo santo, dried cedar leaves, dried sage leaves, or incense sticks, and **use the smoke for purification**.
