The tiger symbolizes authority and auspiciousness. There's a saying, "Worship the Golden Tiger Lord for great wealth" 🤭🤭
In ancient China, there was a natural reverence for tigers, which later became part of folk beliefs. It is said, "The Earth God governs the tigers of the mountains." Ancient people believed that tigers were under the control of the Earth God. Tigers subdued by mountain gods, Earth Gods, or City Gods possessed divine power, not only refraining from harming humans and livestock but also protecting people; thus, they were respectfully referred to as Tiger Lords and devoutly worshipped.
In Taiwanese folk beliefs, the Tiger Lord is the mount of deities such as the God of Medicine (Baosheng Dadi), the City God (Chenghuang Ye), and the Earth God (Tudi Gong). It has become a deity most commonly found beneath the main altar, evolving into various titles based on local legends, such as "Heavenly General Tiger," "Marshal of the Lower Altar," and "Black General Tiger." People believe the Tiger Lord can ward off evil spirits, protect children and household animals, and even "the Tiger Lord bites money to bring wealth," facilitating financial fortune.
The Tiger Lord's subordinates are the Five General Tigers, who command the five camps and represent the five directions and five elements. The auspicious Western Tiger, white in color and associated with metal, is particularly effective in fortune transformation; the Northern Luck Tiger, black in color and associated with water, excels at blessing devotees with insufficient luck, specializing in fortune stabilization and replenishment.
The Golden Tiger Lord represents "attracting wealth," bringing prosperity in both windfall and regular income, especially for those seeking regular earnings, leading to abundant fortune.
The White Tiger Lord represents "transformational luck," where everything falls into place perfectly, signaling opportune timing and good fortune, leading to smooth work and career progress.
Combining porcelain seals with natural gemstone inlays allows people to experience the exquisite and warm touch of porcelain seals. The creation of porcelain seals integrates unique craftsmanship such as painting, seal carving, sculpting, underglaze color, gold tracing, and inlay. Besides practical functionality, they also possess artistic value for collection!
Features of Lin Han-Wei's white porcelain seals:
1. Pioneering combination of gold tracing and natural gemstone inlay, with some gemstones designed to withstand high temperatures and be fired together with the porcelain seal, creating a unified piece – a first in Taiwan.
2. Leveraging Lin Han-Wei's experience working at the headquarters of Franz Collection and its Jingdezhen factory, white porcelain seals are combined with underglaze colors and gold tracing (fired gold). The gold tracing uses German Heraeus gold liquid, hand-painted and fired at 800°C (containing 12% pure gold), giving the seal itself richer colors and variations, achieving a modern seal-carving porcelain style.
3. The porcelain seals are fired at a high temperature of 1230°C, resulting in extremely high hardness and wear resistance. Once fired, the seal is permanently resistant to wear, making it significantly harder than other stones! The underglaze color firing ensures the seal never fades, and the porcelain glaze is as lustrous as jade, delicate and bright.
4. The design of the porcelain seal is not limited to traditional knob forms. The overall shape is integrated and modernly diverse, exquisite and delicate, beloved by various groups. They can be custom-made as personal seals, name seals, company seals, collectible seals, leisure seals, couple's seals, wedding seals, image seals, etc., making them ideal for custom gifts.
5. Each porcelain seal is entirely handcrafted, from the clay molding of the embryo, refining the body, cleaning, air-drying, seal carving, inlaying, biscuit firing, underglaze coloring, high-temperature glaze firing, to the final gold tracing and firing. Each seal undergoes at least 3-4 firing processes. Each firing requires at least 10 hours in the kiln, followed by cooling and removal. The production process for each porcelain seal is complex and time-consuming, taking approximately three to four weeks.
6. Because the porcelain seal's shape is integrated, if a stroke collapses during the carving process, the entire piece must be redone. Therefore, the difficulty and risk involved in creating porcelain seals are extremely high, making each seal even more precious.
