Thank you. *Echinopsis chamaecereus*, belonging to the Cactaceae family and the *Echinopsis* genus, is a variant of *Echinopsis longiseta*. It is also known as "Ruyi Jade," "Grass Ball," or "Short-Haired Ball." Native to South America, its body can reach over ten centimeters in diameter, featuring more than ten prominent vertical ribs, each adorned with spines. *Echinopsis chamaecereus* typically blooms at night. Its flowers have a long, trumpet-like base, reaching up to twenty centimeters in length. The flowers are exceptionally beautiful and remarkably similar in shape to those of the Queen of the Night cactus. The primary growing season for barrel cacti is summer, which is also their peak blooming period. The flowering time is short, lasting from around 6 or 7 PM until noon the next day. The flowers are large, pure white, elegant, and emit a delightful, subtle fragrance, a trait not commonly found in other barrel cacti. Its upright posture gives it a distinguished air, standing out from the crowd. This is likely why it earned the nickname "Night Queen" in Western countries. If the tip of your *Echinopsis chamaecereus* appears a bluish-green, it indicates insufficient light during cultivation. In such cases, relocating it to a sunnier spot is advisable, as inadequate light can lead to etiolation, causing the plant to become deformed. The short-haired ball cactus is very resilient. With controlled watering and overwintering indoors, it generally thrives. The main body readily produces offsets, and any detached pup can be placed on soil to successfully root. | Habit | *Echinopsis chamaecereus* thrives in warm, sunny environments. It is drought-tolerant but not cold-hardy. It requires shade in summer and ample sunlight in winter, with an optimal temperature range of 18-30°C. | Watering | Avoid watering immediately after repotting. Mist the plant 2-3 times daily for the first two weeks. After half a month, you can water sparingly. Only after new roots have developed after one month can you gradually increase the watering amount. Adhere to the principle of "water when dry." Water only when the soil surface feels dry, ensuring adequate amounts and strictly preventing waterlogging in the pot. | Fertilization | During the growing season, fertilize once a month with a succulent nutrient solution.
