This coaster is a simple and unremarkable coaster at first glance.
We used 6 layers of home cloth to make it.
Homemade cloth is hand-woven, with many traces of handwork. For example, it will have a little black cottonseed husk on it, and there will be knots in the thread, which is not so perfect.
But in order to achieve this kind of sewing effect, we chose home-made cloth, which is thick in count, loose in density, and relatively thick, which is convenient for us to sew up and down stitches one by one without being too tight to pull out the needle.
Because of this stitching, this mat can only be used on one side, and its back is full of messy stitches. It takes hours, very slow, to make a coaster. It is the gift of time. The rustic style of the earth cloth carries over to this cushion as well.
The edges are locked a little bit, so that it looks a little hairy, but not loose.
Finally, the tea leaves are dyed.
