I create my works based on the traditional Japanese craft of Ikkanbari. Ikkanbari is a method of decorating a basket product with white washi paper, then decorating it with colored washi paper or cloth, and finally applying persimmon tannins and water-based varnish. It is a craft that requires finishing. Many of the pieces use old fabrics and paper, but my work uses more everyday materials. Two kinds of red washi paper are alternated in a deformed stripe pattern. The inside is made of randomly pasted washi paper and then layered with brown openwork washi paper. The bottom is covered with blue washi paper. A cloth drawstring bag is included, so you can store delicate materials with peace of mind.
