The woman's hair is styled in a high bun, and she wears a yellow-green lapelled, narrow-sleeved, belted tunic, trousers, and short boots, astride a horse with a colorful saddle. The horse is plump and stands firmly on its four legs on a rectangular base, appearing poised for action. The woman turns her body to the side, her head slightly tilted forward. Her left hand is near the horse's head, as if holding the reins, while her right hand is bent as if holding a mallet to strike a ball. The entire piece is made of gray-yellow pottery clay, coated with white slip, and adorned with low-temperature sancai glaze in intermingled hues of yellow, green, white, and brown. The colors are vibrant and lustrous, while the figure's facial features are rendered with pigment. The Tang people revered elaborate burials.
