The Vermilion Bird, Black Tortoise, Azure Dragon, and White Tiger represent the twenty-eight constellations of the four cardinal directions, with the west represented by the White Tiger, hence its name.
The tiger is one of the twelve zodiac animals and the king of beasts, long revered by the Han Chinese people. Since ancient times, it has symbolized warding off evil and subduing demons. As times have progressed, its meaning has expanded to include averting misfortune, punishing evil, and praying for abundant harvests. The bookmark's composition features a week-long powerful tiger, strong and agile, with clouds swirling around its claws and body. The trees beneath it, connected to its tail like lightning, convey vitality and strength.
