It allows for subtle variations in line width, offering a more elastic writing feel than standard ground nibs. It is durable, pressure-resistant, and easy to master. The spring steel calligraphy tip is made from a German JoWo #6 (WIN #12) flexible steel nib (EF-tip), then hand-crafted and adjusted by Old Mountain Goat artisans into a calligraphy nib capable of producing varied line widths. It imparts a unique brushstroke-like charm, offering a distinct writing feel. For calligraphy nibs, it is generally recommended to first dip the nib in ink and allow it to break in for a period before using a converter. 2. If ink flow is interrupted when using a converter, check the angle of your grip. Both iridium dots should land on the paper simultaneously; avoid writing with one side leading. If ink flow is still interrupted, check if paper fibers or debris are lodged in the nib. 3. Remove the converter and try refilling using the filling mechanism. 4. Clean the nib. If one iridium dot is positioned lower than the other, or if excessive pressure is applied, it can cause misalignment of the iridium dots, leading to paper scratching and fiber buildup in the nib gap. 5. The calligraphy nib is an EF nib modified with an arc. Line variation is achieved not by pressing down, but by adjusting the writing angle, utilizing the nib's curvature to create different line widths. Holding the pen more upright reduces the contact area between the nib and paper, resulting in thinner lines. The more the pen is tilted, the greater the contact area, producing thicker lines.
