Paper mulberry is a native plant to Taiwan, dioecious and distributed mainly in flat to low-altitude mountainous areas, and most people should be familiar with it. Even if they do not know the name of the tree, they may have seen it on the roadside, park, school or when they climb mountains, on open land with plenty of sunshine, high fertility and vigorous. It is also commonly known as the deer tree in Taiwan because the bark is rich in fiber, and in the past, it was a good raw material for printing rice paper, cotton paper, and banknotes. Some scholars have found from the chlorophyll DNA of "tree construction" that because the tree is used to make bark cloth, the Austronesian language family brought the tree from Taiwan all the way to the islands of the Pacific Islands, which also proved that the Austronesian language family used Taiwan as a base and expanded eastward.
