Temari, also known as 'temari' (てまり) in Japanese, were historically crafted by parents and grandparents from deconstructed vintage kimonos. These pieces are woven with the creator's dedication over long hours, carrying a wish for the recipient's happiness.
Its round shape symbolizes 'completeness in all things,' and because it is stitched using long continuous threads, it also carries the meaning of 'fostering connections.' The hemp leaf (asanoha) pattern featured here represents a blessing for a child's healthy growth, inspired by the rapid growth of the hemp plant.
It is my hope that this heartwarming craft continues to be passed down through time. (♡ ̇) ̇♡)
