The white clay has a fine texture and the glaze colors stand out brightly. A light blue glaze with a milky nuance and a smooth white matte glaze. This bowl was created by combining these elements. The overlapping areas of the light blue glaze and matte glaze melt together during firing, creating a flowing pattern. The glaze accidentally peeled off where the two types of glaze meet, revealing an intermittent linear pattern. Although peeling glaze is a kind of failure, the exposed base is dyed scarlet and seems to accentuate the piece, so I thought it was a unique feature of this piece and decided to put it up for sale. It's a little wider and larger, and is more suited to eating than drinking. Great for hearty soups, stews, and simmered dishes. It can also be used as a dessert bowl for serving shiratama (rice flour dumplings), matcha ice cream, red beans, etc. Enjoy it in a variety of ways. I use a small electric kiln and an electric potter's wheel at home to make my pottery, and I do all of the processes by hand, from kneading the clay to shaping, bisque firing, glazing, and final firing.
