Of these, only the Huwei Sugar Factory still uses railways to transport raw materials. These sugar-transporting trains are also known as "five-fen trains" (五分車) because the standard gauge of the sugar railway is 762mm, and the train cars are half the size of those on Taiwan Railways. The five-fen trains carrying sugarcane, passing through fields and towns, were once a common sight in the winter landscapes of central and southern Taiwan.
