In late 2024, just before preparing to fly to Korea for a meeting, a sudden lockdown was announced. It was lifted just before our flight, and after arriving safely in Korea, we found ourselves trapped in a subway car. Protesters were flooding in, pushing us so tightly we could barely breathe and couldn't move. We were practically suspended in the air. We kept thinking, "What do we do? Will this turn into a stampede?" We encouraged each other to stay calm, find ways to breathe, keep our heads up, and most importantly, stay on our feet. Thankfully, after a few stops, the dense crowd disembarked at Yeouido Station. We were shaken and in tears. Later, after a few more stops, we left the subway and unexpectedly stumbled upon Hyejin's exhibition. The cats' languid and serene postures instantly calmed the turbulent storm we had just experienced. We, feeling lost and frightened, felt as if we had firmly returned to solid ground. From the bottom of our hearts, we truly felt, "It's wonderful that cats exist in this world." Hyejin's cat creations are such treasures. She utilizes Hanji (traditional Korean paper) and the "Gongbi" (meticulous brushwork) technique, which are less common in the market.
