Native Hong Kong Camellia Hong Kong also has its own native Hong Kong camellias - such as "Hong Kong tea" and "Dabao camellia". Today both are listed on the Red List by the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN), while Hong Kong tea is assessed as an endangered species. Hong Kong tea was first discovered by Colonel Eyre, J., Lieut. Colonel, Roy of the British Army stationed in Hong Kong in 1849. It is a native species of Hong Kong and is characterized by red flowers. In 1955, Liu Songbin, who worked for the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry, discovered another native tea in Hong Kong: Dabao camellia in Tai Moshan, Hong Kong, and named it after Ge Lianghong, the governor of Hong Kong at that time, so it was also called Ge Lianghong tea. Today, Hong Kong tea, Dabao camellia and Hongpi rough fruit tea are all included in the book "Rare and Precious Plants in Hong Kong" published by the Agriculture, Fisheries and Conservation Department. He once created and promoted the "Red, White and Blue" series of positive Hong Kong spirit, and represented Hong Kong in the Venice Biennale in 2005. Over the years, Wong's graphic design, advertising and artistic creations have won more than 600 local and international awards, including the D&AD Yellow Pencil Award and the Tokyo TDC Award. His works have been exhibited in Hong Kong and overseas many times, participated in about 200 exhibitions, and was awarded the Best Artist of the Year Award (Visual Art) at the 2011 Hong Kong Arts Development Awards.
