Material: 100% Boiled Wool, exquisite beaded style, non-itchy
Dimensions: Approximately 70 x 200 cm (Due to the handmade nature, each piece will have slight variations in size and weight.)
✨ Exceptionally refined, softer and more delicate than standard boiled wool bases. Gorgeous beads adorn a fresh, light mint green base, featuring pearlescent beads with shell-like luster, shimmering sequins, and special embroidery threads. Enhanced with intricate Byzantine floral patterns, this one-of-a-kind, subtly luxurious scarf is a statement piece that not only offers warmth but also elevates your outfits with refined details.
While Kashmiri scarves from Northern India may appear vibrant at first glance, with motifs like paisley and rich, bright embroidery threads or beads, they transform into a more understated elegance when worn. The patterns soften, leaving behind an impression of color blocks and fragmented artistic flair, filled with exquisite details to be savored. Therefore, we often show our scarves draped or rolled into a ball to help you visualize how they might look when worn.
★ A warm scarf by your side, in the car, or at the office – it's practical for blocking wind in winter and chilly air conditioning in summer, making it an essential for travel. This unique handmade shawl/scarf is not just about warmth; it ensures you'll be the most captivating focal point in any photograph.
Kashmiri wool is a gift from nature, crafted with the artisan's dedicated handiwork.
The gentlest scarf, the warmest blessing.
Choose the most precious and warming gift for yourself and your dearest friends.
Notes on Collection/Wearing and Care:
★ Each piece is a unique handmade wool artwork, crafted individually by artisans; no two are exactly alike.
★ Handmade wool products may exhibit slight irregularities characteristic of handcrafted items, unlike uniform machine-made pieces. Minor thread deviations or slight variations in dye may occur. (Significant imperfections, clearly visible to the naked eye and beyond minor variations, will be explicitly noted with photographs. If you are particularly sensitive to the aesthetic of handmade items, please consider carefully before purchasing. If you are new to handcrafted textiles, feel free to message us for details on the specific piece.)
★ Wool products should not be machine washed. Dry cleaning is recommended once per season. If hand washing is necessary, use a wool-specific detergent or shampoo and wash gently, separately. (Darker dyed items may release color.) After air-drying, a low-temperature iron can be used with a towel placed underneath (avoid direct sunlight).
★ We select items that are of a delicate, artistic quality, especially cashmere products, which require gentle handling. Fingernails, jewelry, zippers on bags, and Velcro fasteners on clothing can potentially snag the fibers, so please handle with care. While cashmere is lighter and softer, our wool products offer greater durability. We choose virgin wool, lamb's wool, or employ the boiled wool technique. These are softer and more skin-friendly than standard wool, and in our experience, they do not cause noticeable itching. If you are particularly concerned about itchiness, we will indicate it. You can also message us if you are highly sensitive to potential prickle.
★ An eco-friendly, minimalist kraft paper box is included for gift wrapping, perfect for presenting to your loved ones.
Xiannvxuan Selection - Northern Indian Kashmiri Boiled Wool Handmade Embroidered Scarf/Shawl
Boiled Wool Scarf/
The high-altitude Kashmiri plateau, with its lower boiling point, has fostered a unique boiled wool craft. Repeated boiling and drying processes result in wool that is exceptionally fluffy and soft, making it much gentler on the skin than conventional wool. The multi-layered yarn provides significant thickness and wind resistance, enhanced by meticulously color-matched hand-embroidered yarn for intricate detail. (Can be worn on both sides; one side features contrasting or lighter tones. The reverse side may show a few hand-tied yarn knots. Both sides are wearable for those who don't mind.)
Traditional Kani/
Kani is a classic Indian weaving art (not printing). Traditionally, intricate natural motifs like vines, flowers, paisley, and maple leaves were handwoven thread by thread using wooden shuttles. A single piece could take months to complete. More commonly today, machine weaving is used, requiring time-consuming manual thread trimming on the reverse, leaving warp threads visible, akin to impressionist paintings. Some people also enjoy wearing these pieces on the reverse side.
Hand Embroidery/
The embroidery threads throughout the shawl are meticulously hand-stitched one by one. Unlike machine embroidery, perfect alignment and flatness are not always achieved, but this lends it a charming handcrafted appeal. Exquisite details create a delicate and beautiful aesthetic, complemented by vibrant vines or the auspicious paisley motif, symbolizing continuous growth and royalty. It evokes a romantic Bohemian garden feel.
Kalenkali Hand-Dyed and Embroidered/
This combines India's renowned dyeing techniques with handcrafted embroidery. Beautiful, intricate dyed patterns adorn the entire shawl, with embroidery threads outlining the patterns in various colors. The contrasting "piano border" at the bottom echoes the charm of Kani, showcasing the splendor of vibrant, handcrafted artistry. It offers a rich tapestry of two traditional crafts, worthy of collection.
