**Artist: Xie Zhong-Ren**
Born in 1973 in Fangyuan Township, Changhua County.
Began studying jade carving in Taipei in 1988.
Studied Advertising Design in vocational school from 1993, integrating design concepts into his work.
Established his own studio in 1994.
2000: Awarded an Honorable Mention in the Craft category at the 14th National Art Exhibition in Nanying for "Waiting for the Moment." Exhibited in a joint jade exhibition at the Sun Yat-sen Memorial Hall.
August 2001: Invited to participate in the Hualien International Art Festival, demonstrating live carving in the local creation area.
2002: Selected for the "Dream of Craftsmanship" award at the 10th Taiwan Craft Design Competition. Exhibited in a joint jade exhibition at the Hsinchu County Cultural Affairs Bureau in January. Exhibited in a joint jade and Luo Xi stone exhibition at the "Flowers and Trees Carnival" in Changhua County in May. Invited by the Shin Kong Mitsukoshi Cultural Foundation and Hualien Cultural Affairs Bureau for the "Garden of Stones" exhibition, held at Shin Kong Mitsukoshi department stores nationwide from October to December.
2003: Invited by the National Taiwan Craft Research Institute to exhibit works such as "Lotus Ecosystem Charm" at the "Taitung Local Crafts Exhibition" held at the Presidential Office.
2004: Featured on the National Education Radio program "Arts & Culture Corridor - Xie Zhong-Ren Jade Carving Exhibition" from March to June. Received an Honorable Mention at the 12th Taiwan Craft Design Competition in the "Dream of Craftsmanship" category. Held a solo exhibition at the Chiang Kai-shek Memorial Hall from October to January 2005.
2005: Invited by the National Taiwan Museum to exhibit his indigenous carving, "Taiwanese Snacks - Braised Pork Rice." Participated in an exchange exhibition with the National Museum of the Czech Republic, showcasing "Sherlock Holmes: A Thousand Faces," from June to September. Launched the "Yu Ning Shi" brand and opened a counter in department stores. Exhibited at the Pacific Sogo Department Store's "Craftsmanship Masters" exhibition in mid-December.
2007: Invited to participate in the "Craftsmanship Up Close - Applied Craftsmanship in Daily Life" exhibition at the Executive Yuan Art Gallery, hosted by the National Taiwan Craft Research Institute.
2008: His work "Japanese Style Nigiri Sushi" was selected for the "Taiwan Craft Competition" by the National Taiwan Craft Research Institute.
2012: His work "Half Thought" received an Honorable Mention in the Traditional Craftsmanship category at the "Taiwan Craft Competition" organized by the Ministry of Culture and the National Taiwan Craft Research and Development Center. His work "Tranquil Mountain and Water" received an Honorable Mention in the Craft category at the 21st "Nanying Award" in Tainan City.
2013: Invited to exhibit in the Master Jade Carvers' Area at the "Cross-Strait Jade Carving Exchange Exhibition" held at the Sun Yat-sen Memorial Hall.
2016: Invited to exhibit three works – "Japanese Style Nigiri Sushi," "Handmade Mochi," and "Moment of Leap" – at the "Gathering Around the Hearth - Sustainable Craftsmanship Exhibition" in the Presidential Office Gallery, hosted by the National Taiwan Craft Research and Development Center.
2017: His work "Spring Rhyme of Withered Lotus" received an Honorable Mention at the Taoyuan Art Exhibition in Taoyuan City.
2018: Held his solo exhibition, "Xie Zhong-Ren's 30 Years of Jade Carving - The Continuation of Culture," at the Sun Yat-sen Memorial Hall.
2019: Invited to exhibit his work "Auspicious Dragon Offering Blessings" at the "Feast · Happiness" exhibition in the Presidential Office Gallery, hosted by the National Taiwan Craft Research and Development Center.
2020: Featured in the "Joyful Heart, Brilliant Art - Taiwan Craft Development Association Boutique Exhibition," held concurrently at the Hsinchu County Government Cultural Affairs Bureau (July 29 - August 16) and the Taipei Dangdai Museum of Contemporary Craft Design (October 6, 2020 - February 28, 2021).
2021: His work "Japanese Style Nigiri Sushi" was exhibited in the "Creative Regeneration Green Craftsmanship" exhibition hosted by the National Taiwan Craft Research and Development Center (October-November). His work "Handmade Mochi" was selected for the 2021 Taiwan Craft Competition and toured at the Taipei Dangdai Museum of Contemporary Craft Design, Shin Kong Mitsukoshi Xinyi Store, Shin Kong Mitsukoshi Tainan Ximen Store, and Taichung Store.
