What is the wood-firing process?** American, Japanese, and Miaoli clays are mixed in different proportions. The creation process involves hand-pinching (not on a wheel) to slowly form the shape. After basic shaping, the body lines are refined, then polished to complete the greenware. Once in the kiln, it undergoes a continuous five-day, four-night wood-firing process using natural longan and acacia wood. The temperature reaches over 1200 degrees Celsius. During this time, natural ash deposits adhere to the works, forming a special ash glaze. Simultaneously, the kiln's fire marks flow among the pieces, creating beautiful orange-red or blue-purple fire patterns. After five days and four nights of ash and fire marks interplay, a week of cooling is required to achieve the beautiful form of each piece!
