Crafted from a coarse red earthenware clay, this bowl offers a rustic texture and warmth. The warm, off-white matte glaze develops a subtle creamy hue when combined with the red clay. These elements come together to create this leaf-shaped bowl. This is an irregularly shaped bowl, created by indenting just one part of a round form. Its charming shape resembles a broadleaf, a flower petal, or even a heart. With its depth, this bowl can comfortably hold dishes with sauces. It's ideal for dishes like nikujaga (meat and potato stew), nimono (simmered vegetables), agedashi tofu, jibu-ni, potato salad, or dishes with ankake (thickened sauce). You can also enjoy coordinating the colors of your vibrant dishes, such as chirashizushi (scattered sushi), with the bowl's hue. It's a versatile dish, perfect for serving small portions. All stages of production, from kneading the clay to shaping, bisque firing, glazing, and final firing, are done by hand in my home studio, which is equipped with a small electric kiln and a potter's wheel. While mass production is not possible, each piece has its own unique character, offering a charm that can only be found in handmade items. The item you will receive is the same as pictured. Therefore, we treat all our tableware with a food-safe sealant to prevent water penetration, so there is no need for a preliminary soaking (mezoma). This sealing process requires 2-3 days, which is why we set the shipping period to 5 days from the date of your order. If you do not require the sealant treatment, please inform us at the time of purchase. ・We strive to photograph and edit product images to be as close to the actual product as possible.
