A Word from the Shop Owner:
I find Peruvian Palo Santo wood to be an exceptional material, and I've been exploring ways to bring its beautiful fragrance into your daily life. This led to the creation of a series of Palo Santo products. This wide-tooth comb, in particular, was a challenging piece for the carpenter. Each tooth required careful manual measurement, cutting, grinding, and smoothing. The wood's inherent oils made it sticky and difficult to work with, leading the craftsman to remark on the excessive sandpaper usage for each comb to achieve its current smooth finish. This is a limited edition because the craftsman’s fee barely covered his costs, and he is hesitant to take on such projects again. I'm unsure if I'll be able to find another artisan willing to craft these. Made from intricately patterned Palo Santo, these combs are truly stunning, absolutely unique, and highly collectible—even I find myself reluctant to use mine.
About Wide-Tooth Combs:
These combs are ideal for detangling wet hair after washing and for scalp massages. Wet hair can be prone to tangles, and a wide-tooth comb helps prevent damage. As you comb, the subtle Palo Santo aroma is released, providing a purifying and clearing effect while you massage your scalp.
About Palo Santo:
For millennia, Palo Santo has been revered by indigenous peoples of the Americas as a sacred wood, used in shamanic rituals. Its significance to these communities is profound. Lower grades of Palo Santo are burned in ceremonies for purification of spaces, minds, and spirits, and to connect with the divine. Mid-grade wood is used for crafting ceremonial staffs. The highest quality Palo Santo is even considered too sacred to be harvested and is worshipped as a divine entity.
In Peru, Palo Santo (Palo Santo) is designated as a national treasure, and its harvesting is strictly regulated. Only a select few companies hold official permits for legal lumber extraction.
The name "Palo Santo" perfectly encapsulates its essence in South America, meaning "holy wood." From its inception, growth, and eventual passing, it transforms into something sacred and medicinal. Typically, a Palo Santo tree lives for 80-90 years before it dies. After its demise, it must remain in place for 4-10 years to complete its natural transformation process. Only through this complete cycle does the Palo Santo's energy reach its full potential. For centuries, Palo Santo has been utilized by shamans and healers in Peru and Ecuador, and its use in indigenous ceremonies continues to be widespread today.
The Palo Santo used in this shop is authentically imported from Peru (even export requires official Peruvian authorization). It is harvested from trees of considerable age, ensuring a more grounded and potent energy.

- This wide-tooth comb is handcrafted by a skilled carpenter, a truly labor-intensive process. Each tooth is meticulously measured, cut, ground, and smoothed by hand. Due to the rich natural oils present in Palo Santo wood, the craftsman found it exceptionally sticky and challenging to work with. He reported using over a dozen sandpaper sheets just to achieve this level of smoothness on a single comb.
