"Hidasuki"（緋襷） is a technique used in Bizen-yaki pottery, where straw is tightly wrapped around the pottery during firing. As the straw burns away during firing, it leaves behind beautiful scarlet patterns on the pottery, creating unique designs on each piece. This technique results in distinctive red patterns that adorn the vessel, making each piece one-of-a-kind. In rare cases, Bizen-yaki pottery can be fired using the hidasuki method with a pale cream color, which imparts a unique flavor to the pottery.
