What is the ash-firing process?** American clay, Japanese clay, and Miaoli clay are mixed in different proportions. The creation process involves pure hand-pinching (not on a pottery wheel) to gradually form the shape. After basic shaping, the body lines are refined, and then polished to complete the greenware. Once placed in the kiln, the ash-firing process using natural longan and acacia wood takes five days and four nights of continuous firing, reaching temperatures over 1200 degrees Celsius. During this time, natural ash deposits adhere to the works, forming a special ash glaze. Simultaneously, the fire patterns within the kiln flow among the pieces, creating beautiful orange-red or blue-purple fire marks. After five days and four nights of ash deposits and fire patterns intertwining, a week of cooling is required before a piece achieves its beautiful form! Minor variations may also occur due to the firing process; slight imperfections in the rim or minor production scratches are normal and do not affect usability.
