She was just a priestess of Athena's temple,
Coveted by Poseidon for her beauty.
In Athena's sanctuary, she was violated by
him,
And in a fit of anger, Athena turned her flowing hair into venomous snakes,
Transforming her into a monster whose gaze turns people to stone.
