High-quality beans naturally possess a rich aroma that evolves delightfully through different temperature stages—hot, warm, and cool—offering a truly enjoyable sensory experience. Panama Boquete Altieri Estate Geisha Washed Rich floral notes, bergamot, apricot, pomelo, lychee, milk tea; complex and layered. https://justincoffee.shop.rakuten.tw/gold/OtherDrive/JC_world_map_740JPG.jpg **Altieri Estate** Located on the eastern side of Volcan Baru, along Callejón Seco. With coffee farms situated at elevations of 1350m and 2000m, the fertile volcanic soil is exceptionally suited for agriculture. The surrounding forests are often enveloped in mist, ensuring abundant rainfall. Geographically, Panama's narrow isthmus, bordered by the Caribbean Sea to the east and the Pacific Ocean to the west, allows monsoon winds to easily traverse the central mountain range into the Boquete Valley. Altieri Estate benefits from the convergence of air currents from both sides, and its varied high-altitude microclimates create five distinct microclimates, contributing to the coffee's unique flavor profile. What sets this estate apart is not only its rich volcanic soil but also its remarkable altitude, ranging from 1600-2200 meters. A portion of its Geisha cultivation is within Baru National Park, making it the only estate currently permitted to grow coffee within a national park. Altieri Estate is a consistent award winner at the Best of Panama (BOP) competition. Since 2013, Altieri has consistently placed in the Best of Panama (BOP) competition. In 2024, Altieri experienced another peak moment. In the highly competitive Natural Geisha category, a lot named "Satori" achieved an impressive third place with a score of 95 points. This exceptional coffee set a record at international auctions, fetching $2,704 USD per kilogram, sending waves through the specialty coffee community. Simultaneously, its Washed Geisha maintained top-tier quality, securing a prominent position with a score of 92 points. This purity, elegance, and the exquisite essence characteristic of the classic Boquete region are perfect testaments to their craftsmanship. In 2025, considered one of the most fiercely competitive years in BOP history, Altieri successfully secured spots within the top 15 in both the "Natural Geisha Category" and the "Traditional Varieties Category," amidst continuously rising scoring benchmarks. Panamanian Geisha is celebrated worldwide. While obtaining excellent Geisha is not difficult, consistently excelling in the Best of Panama competition from a top-tier Geisha estate year after year is a remarkable achievement. Caring for Employees While pursuing exceptional quality, Altieri treats its employees like family, providing them and their families with independent housing and healthcare. Employees' wives can earn additional income at a sewing workshop, and children receive after-school tutoring. This initiative significantly improves the living conditions of the workers. The dedication to people and quality is clearly reflected in the estate's numerous awards over the years, yielding highly positive results. https://justincoffee.shop.rakuten.tw/gold/OtherDrive/JC_Varieties_740.jpg **Geisha / Gesha Varietal** Once recognized by Forbes as one of the "World's Top Ten Most Expensive Coffees," the Geisha coffee (also spelled Gesha) is a true legend in the specialty coffee world. There's considerable confusion surrounding the Geisha varietal, as various genetically distinct plant types are referred to as Geisha, many sharing similar origins in Ethiopia. Recent genetic diversity analyses by World Coffee Research have confirmed that the T2722 variety, cultivated in Panama, produces unique and consistent offspring. When managed well in high-altitude regions, it correlates with exceptionally high cup scores and is celebrated for its delicate floral, jasmine, and peach-like aromas. The Geisha varietal grown in Panama for over 60 years is the T2722. It was originally collected from coffee forests in Ethiopia in the 1930s. It was sent to the Lyamungu Research Station in Tanzania and then brought to Central America in 1953 to the Centro Agronómico Tropical de Investigación y Enseñanza (CATIE) in Costa Rica, where it was registered under the code T2722. In the 1960s, recognized for its resistance to coffee leaf rust, it was distributed throughout Panama via CATIE. However, its brittle branches made it less favored by farmers, leading to limited cultivation. It wasn't until 2005, when the Peterson family of Boquete, Panama, entered this coffee into the Best of Panama competition and auction, that it began to gain significant recognition. It received exceptionally high ratings and broke auction price records for green coffee at the time. Regarding the name of the Geisha/Gesha coffee, the spellings Geisha and Gesha are often used interchangeably, related to transliteration as there is no fixed translation from Ethiopian dialects to English. The coffee was initially recorded in cultivation records with the spelling Geisha, and for decades, coffee researchers and databases largely maintained this spelling, leading to its initial promotion and use in the coffee industry. The varietal was first collected from a mountain in Ethiopia, whose name is commonly translated into English as Gesha or Geisha. In recent years, Geisha varietals have seen a rise in cultivation worldwide, achieving accolades in major competitions across Central and South America, including Guatemala, Costa Rica, El Salvador, Colombia, and Peru, typically through propagation from the Panamanian T2722 variety. Taiwan also has many high-altitude regions now cultivating Geisha, with flavor profiles generally becoming more captivating at higher elevations. https://justincoffee.shop.rakuten.tw/gold/OtherDrive/JC_Processing_740.jpg Coffee Processes This refers to the method of transforming ripe red cherries into dry green beans. Each process has its own merits and drawbacks, influenced by the local environment and specific needs of the origin. Therefore, each region has processing methods best suited to it. This batch utilizes the Washed process, detailed below. **Washed / Wet Processed** Also known as wet milling, this method involves removing the skin and pulp from the coffee cherries before drying. The beans are then fermented in water tanks to remove the mucilage layer clinging to the seed. Afterward, they are washed with water and dried using sun or machine dryers. The Washed process typically results in a cleaner, crisper mouthfeel with a lighter body compared to the Natural process. It often exhibits brighter flavor profiles and the distinct acidity essential for specialty coffee. Fruit notes are still present and are usually more clearly defined. https://justincoffee.shop.rakuten.tw/gold/OtherDrive/JC_Roasting_740.jpg https://justincoffee.shop.rakuten.tw/gold/OtherDrive/JC_filter_740.jpg https://justincoffee.shop.rakuten.tw/gold/OtherDrive/JC_Drip_Bag_Coffee.jpg Manufactured by Justin Enterprise Co., Ltd.
