These coasters are crafted from cowhide leather. Uniquely designed in a pentagonal shape, which is rare for leather coasters. We've meticulously hand-stitched layers of leather, reaching a thickness of approximately 7mm. We hope you'll find them to be a subtle luxury, perfect for a moment of quiet with tea, or for unwinding after a long day. * Due to the nature of leather layering, achieving an exact 7mm thickness can be challenging; we adjust them to be between 7mm and 8mm. The material boasts excellent absorbency. By adhering only to the outer edges, we've created a structure that smoothly absorbs a greater amount of moisture. This gives the center a soft, yielding texture when pressed. Conversely, they are prone to water stains. For daily care, gently wipe with a well-wrung cloth. As we prefer to avoid a sticky feel, no maintenance oils are applied. If significant marks appear, a method of soaking overnight and air-drying in the shade has been effective. Mold is a considerable concern. After absorbing a large amount of water from condensation of cold drinks, ensure they are thoroughly dried for 2-3 days, until they weigh approximately 40 grams. "Tochigi Leather," which conveys the natural charm of cowhide, is leather tanned from "hide" to "leather" by Tochigi Leather Co., Ltd. in Tochigi City, Tochigi Prefecture. It is a premium cowhide, tanned through a meticulous 20-step process passed down since the company's founding in 1937, using tannins extracted from mimosa tree bark, without harmful chemicals.
