Arrow-shaped, iridized blue Roman glass and Tuareg beads, single-earring with old Orissa brass

A single-earring crafted by connecting arrow-shaped, iridized blue Roman glass, Tuareg beads, and old Orissa brass. The Roman glass dates back to the Roman Empire (27 BCE – 395 CE). "Iridization" occurs when glass is buried underground for many years, causing a chemical reaction between the glass and soil components, resulting in this sparkling iridescence. Not all glass buried for extended periods develops iridescence; this phenomenon only appears when multiple specific conditions are met. Enjoy its beautiful, pearl-like sheen that shifts with the angle of light! It's delightful to ponder its past: Was it part of a handle, or perhaps a decorative element? What was its purpose? This Roman glass features a unique arrow-like shape and a vibrant blue hue. The dull golden beads are old Orissa brass, rare metal beads sourced from the Orissa state of India. The blue beads are antique beads known as Indo-Pacific beads. The origin of beads called Indo-Pacific beads is said to date back to the 2nd century BCE. These particular beads are excavated artifacts from Indonesia, dating back an astonishing 1000 years, around the 10th century CE! The double spiral rings and small beads are Karen silver.
