After three years of quiet reflection due to the pandemic, I embarked on the first grand journey of my life in 2023. Why call it a grand journey? Because the travel experiences of this year were particularly meaningful to me. It was the first time in my life that I packed camping gear, shouldered a heavy backpack, flew to the northern lands, and walked the King's Trail in the wilderness. I trekked over a hundred kilometers on this journey, the furthest I had ever walked on my own. In September of the same year, I accompanied my sister to her dream destination – Alaska. We went together to Denali National Park to see the fiery autumn colors covering the mountains, rode a train to Fairbanks to encounter the aurora borealis, and crossed the Arctic Circle in a bumpy small bus. And at the end of the year, I set off on a road trip around the island with my family. These days on the road, whether it was the vastness of nature or a simple meal shared with family, were beautiful scenes that I wanted to cherish in my heart. The scenery along the way is a lifelong gift. That's why I painted this series, spending many nights and witnessing many sunrises.
