This piece evokes the image of plump, lustrous white teardrops, as if shed from a radiant full moon. It features Oceanic turbo shell from Okinawa, each piece carefully polished by hand. The beautiful shell is embraced by a white peacock frame, as if protecting precious eggs. The beauty of the Oceanic turbo shell lies in its iridescent sheen and captivating striped patterns. While each shell possesses a unique character, you can fully enjoy the charm of any piece. The iridescent sheen, similar to the inner surface of abalone shells, is known as nacre. The thickness of the shell allows for a profound depth to this luster. Although not intentionally showcased in this design, it's said that depending on the part cut from the shell and the finishing method, a mystical blue-green, reminiscent of malachite, can emerge. This particular Oceanic turbo shell reveals a pattern resembling an eye on a peacock feather at its center, nestled close to the eye motif on the peacock's frame. The iridescent sheen is relatively strong. On the reverse side, depending on the angle of light, a more subtle iridescent sheen can be observed compared to the front. There is very little blue-green visible. Oceanic turbo shells have been cherished since ancient times for their thousand-year radiance, seen in treasures like the Shosoin collection and the mother-of-pearl inlay of Chuson-ji's Golden Hall, and are believed to offer protection. To ensure your enjoyment for years to come, this piece is finished without the use of adhesives that could cause yellowing or peeling over time. The metal frame is delicately tightened to avoid scratching the shell, and a stainless steel wire threaded with a pearl secures it within the frame, preventing movement. The pearl is a Swarovski crystal in a pearlescent white, chosen to harmonize with and enhance the shell's colors.
