This is an SDGs-conscious piece of kintsugi jewelry, upcycled from ceramics by Fukukukama, a potter based in Uji City, Kyoto Prefecture, known for Kyo-yaki and Kiyomizu-yaki pottery. We reuse cracked or chipped pottery, no longer in use, and adorn it with kintsugi to transform it into accessories. Our concept is to create modern accessories that connect to the future, allowing people to feel close to nature and Japan's enduring traditions, thereby creating new possibilities. Elegant grey pottery fragments are paired with freshwater pearls. Kintsugi is applied to the sides of the pottery fragments, so the gold accent shines even from the side, adding a touch of refinement. These pieces are perfect as a statement accent for both casual and elegant outfits. This work uses a modern, simplified kintsugi technique. Unlike traditional urushi lacquer made from the sap of the lacquer tree, adhesive is used for the bonding.
