In last year's calendar, one month featured a small caladium, its delicate veins becoming more captivating with each glance. This year, we've dedicated ourselves to testing more caladium varieties, starting in spring. Caladiums boast diverse leaf colors, from broad to narrow shapes, becoming even more stunning in summer! While their leaves are richly colored, it's not always possible to perfectly replicate them onto fabric using the cyanotype process. After countless trials and tests with various cultivars, we've selected 12–16 varieties for this 2023 desk and fabric calendar that fully showcase their unique characteristics. This technique utilizes the cyanotype craft, dating back to the 18th century. The blue formed by the cyanotype method is known as Prussian blue or jewel blue. Each fabric print, exposed to sunlight, yields varying natural color tones. The botanical designs for the fabric prints are created after collecting the plants. They document the flowers or leaves at their most beautiful form and at their original scale.
