The outer layer is made of warm Shetland wool Linen, which is perfect for this time of year. This wool is taken from sheep that live on the Shetland Islands, located north of Scotland. The sheep are raised in a harsh, cold, humid environment, and are fed seaweed, giving them a soft texture. Usually, only the inner hair, known as the undercoat, is used, making this fabric a rare and valuable item. The inside is lined with a thick double quilting padding, making it soft and fluffy. The fabric itself is brushed, so it is warm. Drinks tend to cool a little slower than with a regular flat coaster.
