Their **main differences lie in color, texture, hardness, and manufacturing methods**. **"Water-ground Cinnabar"** **A true red, with a slight orange undertone. The surface has a warm, matte finish that will become more lustrous with wear, developing a patina.** The manufacturing method involves repeatedly grinding fine cinnabar particles into a paste, mixing with water, allowing it to settle, and then collecting the upper "cloudy liquid." This is then allowed to settle again (the water-grinding purification process). The bottom cinnabar mud is air-dried and then formed using traditional pressing methods. Fine mineral sparkles can still be seen on the cross-section. **"Emperor Cinnabar"** **A more vibrant red hue, with higher hardness.** The manufacturing process involves multiple stages of crushing, grinding, magnetic separation, water-grinding, and high polishing from natural raw cinnabar ore, followed by traditional pressing. Emperor cinnabar has almost no visible mineral sparkles on the surface, but has them internally. The surface is finished with a **high-polishing** technique to achieve a metallic luster, especially brilliant in sunlight. **"Purple-gold Cinnabar"** **A purplish-red color, with slightly lower hardness than Emperor cinnabar.** The manufacturing process involves multiple stages of crushing, grinding, and screening from natural raw cinnabar ore, but **without the water-grinding purification**. Therefore, the surface is less refined and has small, scattered mineral sparkles, giving a "starry sky" effect. **"Crystal Cinnabar"** **A purplish-red color, translucent.** These are large cinnabar particles chipped directly from cinnabar ore. Emperor cinnabar is deeper than bright red, fine and lustrous. Raw cinnabar is bright red and finer. **Cinnabar jewelry is made by pressing cinnabar powder with amber powder into molds, followed by detailed hand carving.** Due to the different craftsmanship involved in round beads and intricate carved pieces, round beads are generally highly polished to achieve a bright finish. (To avoid damaging the aesthetics of the finished product, please choose an inconspicuous area to draw the line, or use the complimentary bead for testing.) **> Cinnabar Care** **When cinnabar jewelry does not contain metal or organic components (such as wood, bamboo, bodhi seeds, etc.), it can tolerate light contact with water, but prolonged immersion is not advisable as it can affect its luster.** **Water contact is not recommended for braided cord styles.
