Burmese Daron Talisman Beads - West Asian Agate Guru Beads Bracelet (Length 20cm. Inner Diameter 15.5cm)

Eight large-sized, drilled Daron talisman beads recovered from a collapsed stupa in Mandalay. These Daron talisman beads, in the form of prayer beads, have been cleaned to remove their oxidized patina. The beads are made of a copper alloy, containing gold, though not in a high proportion. Cinnabar was added during the smelting process. The beads appear bright yellow in photographs, but will naturally oxidize and darken over time if not polished. The largest average diameter is between 1.1-1.2 cm. Dating is based on accompanying artifacts unearthed with the stupa. The estimated period is the 18th-19th century. These prayer bead-style talisman beads were typically placed in stupas in sets of 108... Due to the humid environment within the stupas, the original stringing cords oxidized and decomposed. After collection by artifact dealers in Myanmar, they were brought back to Taiwan and sold as individual beads. We were fortunate to acquire some and have strung them with eight West Asian Agate Guru beads to create this bracelet. It is a sacred object with distinctive characteristics and spiritual blessings. West Asian Agate Guru beads are ancient, buried beads. They are classified within the West Asian bead group (originating from regions like Myanmar, Pakistan, Afghanistan, etc.). These are old agate beads, predating the 18th century, though not quite a millennium old. The average diameter is 1.4 cm. The bracelet is crafted from these two types of ancient artifacts.
