However, like silver, brass can oxidize, and moisture from rain, sweat, and even the air can deepen its color. While some appreciate this natural patina, here are a few tips to maintain its original luster: ♦ Avoid contact with water ♦ Store in a resealable bag when not wearing If the luster appears to fade, a few simple methods can help restore your item's original brilliance. Please note that if the surface is scratched, while the color can be revived, the shine may not be fully restored (the matte, antique brass look is also beautiful!). ♦ Use a toothbrush dipped in a small amount of foaming toothpaste or tooth powder and gently scrub as you would your teeth to restore brass luster.
