This bracelet is crafted by connecting old Himachali silver, old blue mikan-dama beads, Mizoram carnelian, gold-red white hearts, white beads, turquoise green chevron beads, and old Indian silver charms.
The old Himachali silver, adorned with floral patterns, hails from the Himachal Pradesh state in the northwestern part of India.
This is over 100-year-old silver, believed to have been previously paired with turquoise and coral.
It features a hollow interior, making it surprisingly lightweight.
(Dimensions of old Himachali silver: 1.7cm width, 1.2cm height, 0.7cm depth)
The vibrant blue beads were made in China between the 1920s and 1930s.
They share a distinctive resemblance to Japanese mikan-dama beads, possessing a lustrous and beautiful shape.
Minor scratches are present.
(Dimensions of mikan-dama beads: 0.85cm width, 0.95cm diameter)
The orange beads are Mizoram carnelian, heirlooms from the Mizoram state in eastern India, dating back to around the 18th century.
Their color variations lend them a rich and expressive character.
The deep red beads are antique white hearts, named for their white core. These Venetian beads date from the 19th to 20th centuries.
The deep red white hearts are a rare type, known as "gold-red" white hearts, due to the use of gold to achieve their vibrant hue.
Visible lines are not cracks but air bubbles formed during the manufacturing process.
The charm on the clasp is antique Indian silver, crafted between the 19th and early 20th centuries.
With wear, it is expected to develop a unique patina.
The central motif depicts Bhumiya Ji, a legendary hero from Rajasthan, India, riding a horse.
(Dimensions: 1.8cm height, 1.3cm width - including the loop)
The dull gold beads are old Orissa brass, rare metal beads from the Orissa state of India.
The plump,壺-shaped silver beads sandwiching the blue mikan-dama and Mizoram carnelian, as well as the round top near the clasp, are made of highly rare old Chin silver. These are heirlooms dating from the 18th to 19th centuries, originating from Burma. Used by Chin women in necklaces and other adornments, they exhibit a distinctive wear and charming imperfections.
Their weight and presence are unparalleled compared to modern silver (though some modern pieces are also striking). These antique beads have seen a significant price increase in recent years.
The beads with turquoise green stripes are chevron beads.
"Chevron" in English refers to a zigzag pattern (in Italian, "Rosetta"). These beads are considered the "nobility" of beads, holding significant value and meaning.
These are smaller examples of chevron beads.
Turquoise blue chevron beads of this kind are exceptionally rare and difficult to acquire.
The white beads are antique Venetian beads from the 19th to 20th centuries.
These were made in Venice and later became heirlooms in Myanmar, possessing a beautiful antique patina.
The clasp and intermediate beads are Karen silver.
◇ Karen Silver ◇
Silver crafted by the hill tribes residing in Thailand and Burma.
Each piece is handmade, and the silver is said to have a very high purity.
The floral-shaped beads are also silver.
The bracelet is strung on waxed cord, which will become more supple with wear.
