**Artist Biography: Hsieh Chung-Jen**
Born in 1973 in Fangyuan Township, Changhua County.
Began learning jade carving in Taipei in 1988.
Studied advertising design in vocational school in 1993, integrating design concepts into his work.
Established his personal studio in 1994.
2000: Awarded an honorable mention for his craftwork "Waiting for the Moment" at the 14th South-Aboriginal Fine Arts Exhibition. Participated in a jade and stone exhibition at the Sun Yat-Sen Memorial Hall.
2001: Invited to participate in the Hualien International Art Festival, showcasing live carving in the local creation area.
2002: Selected for the "Dream of Craftsmanship" award at the 10th Taiwan Craft Design Competition. Exhibited jade and stone works at the Hsinchu County Cultural Bureau. Participated in a jade and stone exhibition at the "Flowers and Trees Carnival" in Changhua County. Invited by the Shin Kong Mitsukoshi Cultural Foundation and the Hualien Cultural Affairs Bureau for the "Grand View of Stones" exhibition, held at Shin Kong Mitsukoshi department stores across northern, central, and southern Taiwan.
2003: Invited by the National Taiwan Craft Research and Development Institute to exhibit works such as "Lotus Ecological Scenery" at the "Taitung Local Craft Exhibition" in the Presidential Office.
2004: Featured on the National Education Radio program "Art Corridor - Hsieh Chung-Jen Jade Stone Carving Exhibition." Received an honorable mention at the 12th Taiwan Craft Design Competition for "Dream of Craftsmanship." Held a solo exhibition at the Chiang Kai-shek Memorial Hall.
2005: Invited by the National Taiwan Museum to exhibit his work "Taiwanese Snacks - Braised Pork Rice." Participated in the "Sherlock Holmes - A World of Faces Exhibition" in collaboration with the National Museum of the Czech Republic. Launched the "Yu Ning Shi" brand and opened a department store counter. Exhibited as a "Craft Master" at Pacific Sogo Department Store.
2007: Invited to participate in the "Craftsmanship at Your Fingertips - Applied Crafts for Daily Life" exhibition at the Executive Yuan Art Gallery, organized by the National Taiwan Craft Research Institute.
2008: His work "Japanese Style Sushi" was selected for the "Taiwan Craft Competition" at the National Taiwan Craft Research Institute.
2012: Received an honorable mention in the Traditional Craft category at the Ministry of Culture and National Taiwan Craft Research Institute's "Taiwan Craft Competition" for his work "Half Thought." Received an honorable mention in the craft category at the 21st Tainan "South-Aboriginal Award" for his work "Tranquil Mountain Water."
2013: Invited to exhibit in the Taiwanese Jade Master Zone at the "Cross-Strait Jade Carving Exchange Exhibition" at the Sun Yat-Sen Memorial Hall.
2016: Invited by the National Taiwan Craft Research and Development Institute to exhibit three pieces, "Japanese Style Sushi," "Handmade Mochi," and "Moment of Leap," at the Presidential Office Gallery's "Gather Around the Hearth - Sustainable Craft Exhibition."
2017: His work "Remnant Lotus in Spring" received an honorable mention at the Taoyuan City Art Exhibition.
2018: Held his solo exhibition "Hsieh Chung-Jen Jade Carving 30 Years: The Continuation of Culture" at the Sun Yat-Sen Memorial Hall.
2019: Invited by the National Taiwan Craft Research and Development Institute to exhibit his work "Auspicious Dragon Presenting Treasures" at the Presidential Office Gallery's "Feast · Happiness" exhibition.
2020: His work was featured in the "Joyful Heart, Radiant Art - Taiwan Craft Development Association Boutique Exhibition," held concurrently at the Hsinchu County Government Cultural Affairs Bureau and the Taipei Contemporary Craft Design Branch of the National Taiwan Craft Research and Development Institute.
2021: His work "Japanese Style Sushi" was exhibited at the "Creative Regeneration - Green Craft" exhibition organized by the National Taiwan Craft Research and Development Institute. His work "Handmade Mochi" was selected for the 2021 Taiwan Craft Competition and toured various locations including the National Taiwan Craft Research and Development Institute's Taipei Contemporary Craft Design Branch, Shin Kong Mitsukoshi Xinyi Store, Shin Kong Mitsukoshi Tainan Ximen Store, and Taichung Store.
